The European Commission in Brussels has approved the CAAIVE – “Centers of Agricultural AI Vocational Excellence” project, with a total budget of EUR 4.55 million, and it officially started today.
CAAIVE is an important new European project focused on Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture, Precision Farming, digital skills, and Agriculture 4.0 — smart farming in two main directions with a broader scope:
1) Animals and 2) Plants
(AI in Animal Farming & AI in Plant Farming)
CAAIVE is a new European initiative dedicated to advancing Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture, Precision Farming, and Agriculture 4.0 through stronger cooperation between education, vocational excellence, farmers, agri-businesses, and innovation ecosystems.
This project reflects an increasingly important European priority:
- equipping the agricultural sector with digital skills,
- increasing the innovation capacity of farmers,
- supporting cooperatives / agricultural associations with the collaboration structures needed for a more competitive and sustainable economy, and
- focusing on and improving rural agriculture for a stronger rural economy.
For our team, CAAIVE represents a very important step in connecting:
- artificial intelligence in agriculture,
- precision farming with new technologies,
- vocational education and training (VET) and skills development
among farmers and cooperatives, - the involvement and support of startups and small and medium-sized enterprises, and
- bringing innovation, sustainability, and regional development closer to the end users.
We are excited to contribute to this 4-year journey
and to work with our international partners on practical activities, new knowledge, stronger networks, and long-term impact for the agricultural sector.
