Egypt’s rich heritage goes far beyond its iconic pyramids.
Today, it also plays an important role on the global stage.
The first ever EU-Egypt summit paved the way to a partnership that is built on shared interests.
With the agreements made, the EU commits to provide:
💰 €4 billion in Macro-Financial Assistance to help Egypt meet its external financing needs and support economic reforms, such as improving the business environment and advancing the green transition
💶 €75 million in support of socio-economic reforms to improve access to basic quality services (health, education, water, sanitation) and to complement social safety nets, in particular for women and youth.
Egypt also joins the growing family of countries associated with the EU’s flagship research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe.
This agreement allows local researchers to participate in large-scale projects under similar conditions as their European peers.
