EIT Jumpstarter is one of Europe’s leading pre-accelerators, designed to help early-stage innovators from moderate innovation countries transform their ideas into successful ventures. Supported by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT), the programme offers expert mentorship, hands-on training, financial support, and access to a vast network of investors, industry leaders, and innovation hubs.
Since its inception, EIT Jumpstarter has created more than 125 start-ups and trained over 1180 talents across strategic innovation areas, including Healthcare, Food & Agritech, Metals, Minerals, Advanced Materials & Industrial Side Streams, Energy and Renewables, Advanced and Green Manufacturing, Smart Cities and Mobility, the New European Bauhaus (NEB) and Rebuild Ukraine.
Eligible Thematic Areas
Participants can submit their ideas in one of the eight categories, powered and mentored by different EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (EIT KICs):
Food & Agritech
Optimising resource efficiency and sustainability in agriculture, food production, and supply chains. Key areas: nutritionally customised food, digital traceability, food safety, and authenticity.
Healthcare
New models to deliver healthcare; Facilitating the uptake of digital medical devices in Europe; Harnessing the full potential of health data for innovation.
Advanced and Green Manufacturing
Flexible production systems for competitive manufacturing and low-footprint, circular economy solutions for green manufacturing. Key areas: digital and collaborative innovations in manufacturing ecosystems and human-machine coworking for socially sustainable production.
Metals, Minerals and Industrial Side Streams
Innovative technologies to improve mineral exploration, mining, and materials processing through digital solutions and smart targeting. Key areas: Circular economy practices, recycling, and sustainable material design, reduce emissions, or promote transparency across value chains.
Energy & Renewables
Energy cost reduction, system performance improvement, and lowering GHG emissions. Key areas: circular economy in energy, green hydrogen, energy management, and storage solutions.
Smart Cities & Urban Mobility
The main focus areas are active mobility, sustainable city logistics, future mobility, mobility and energy, and public realm.
New European Bauhaus (NEB)
Innovative, sustainable, and inclusive solutions in architecture, design, and smart infrastructure. Projects must align with at least one NEB dimension: sustainability, aesthetics, or inclusion.
Rebuild Ukraine
We welcome ideas from all EIT Jumpstarter topics. Applicants must be Ukrainian citizens committed to incorporating their company in Ukraine. This category provides support to Ukrainian innovators and helps prevent brain drain.
